Dear Zak,
They might not be quite as enthusiastic and certainly aren’t fast as you but Themba and Tara like to run too! The days of running next to the truck are over but I’d be willing to bet they can get up to 40 kph – I think the best I got with you was 50 kph. That little Tara lives up to her “Goromonzi Greyhound” heritage though and can stay up with Themba. They get the zoomies in the garden and she wins on agility though when Themba corners her it doesn’t count for much against his bulk. There’s been the occasional yelp as he butts her into the wall.
It’s a bit difficult to get in a decent run right now as the cattle are on the maize stubble and we don’t trust Tara not to try chasing them so she has to stay on a lead. They are also digging trenches for pipes to fill a new reservoir so I cannot get in position to take more photos. This one will have to do for the moment – anyway, I think it captures their sprint nicely.
It’s still quite cool when we go walking on ART but the winter hasn’t really happened this year. Only two mornings of 0ºC and a bit of frost – it doesn’t bode well for the summer rains especially with a strong el Niño forecast. The smoke and haze are most certainly here though, this morning I could look at the sun after it rose with no difficulty.
Dogs running. You will always come to mind when I think of dogs running!
Love you my boy.
